The companies sign an MoU to elevate IoT and LPWAN solutions to new heights

Dubai, UAE, October 16, 2024: InfraX, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA—the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (PJSC)—has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Space42 (ADX: SPACE42), the UAE’s first AI-powered SpaceTech company with global reach. This groundbreaking agreement is set to combine the strengths of both organizations to push the boundaries of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies in the UAE.

The MoU was signed at GITEX 2024 by Rashid Alahmedi, Chief Operating Officer of InfraX, and Sulaiman Al Ali, CEO of Thuraya Telecommunications Company, the satellite mobility arm of Space42’s Yahsat Space Services. This collaboration will see the integration of InfraX’s cutting-edge infrastructure solutions with Space42’s global satellite connectivity, leveraging Thuraya’s extensive IoT network to develop innovative use cases for various industries, especially in the utilities sector.

“We are excited to partner with Space42 in our shared vision to revolutionize the IoT sector. By combining Thuraya’s satellite connectivity expertise with our advanced infrastructure capabilities, we will be able to deliver groundbreaking solutions that address the diverse needs of businesses. This partnership will drive technological innovation, enhance connectivity, and deliver exceptional value to clients across industries,” said Rashid Alahmedi, CEO of InfraX.

Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Yahsat Space Services, Space42, added, “Our collaboration with InfraX is a significant step towards expanding IoT capabilities and supporting smart city applications, particularly in the utilities sector. It will also help improve service accessibility in remote areas by enabling seamless satellite connectivity for enhanced operational efficiency.”

The partnership marks the start of an ambitious journey to set new benchmarks in IoT and LPWAN technology. With a focus on expanding connectivity, InfraX and Space42 aim to empower businesses and IoT devices to unlock the full potential of SpaceTech and continue driving technological advancements.

Space42’s Yahsat Space Services division specializes in satellite operations, providing fixed and mobile satellite solutions. Through Thuraya, it offers reliable communications across land, sea, and air, supporting industrial applications, satellite phones, broadband terminals, and IoT solutions, ensuring real-time data transmission and asset tracking in even the most remote areas.
