The company powers the world’s biggest AI labs, and recently announced a $130M investment from Warburg Pincus at a $3.6B valuation, cementing its position as Lithuania’s second most valuable unicorn.

Vilnius, Lithuania and Sofia, Bulgaria – Last week, Vytautas Savickas, CEO of Oxylabs, appeared on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria’s “In Development” program to discuss the future of artificial intelligence in Europe, the company’s path to recently reached unicorn status, and the shifting dynamics of the global technology landscape.

In a conversation with the host Georgi Mesrobovich, Savickas cautioned that Europe’s regulatory-first approach to emerging technologies risks putting the continent at a competitive disadvantage against the US and China.

“Sometimes we start regulating things that we don’t yet know and don’t understand how they work, before we’ve even given innovation a chance to develop,” said Savickas. “We’re not creating an environment that’s conducive enough for innovation and change.”

Savickas called for increased collaboration between innovative companies and European institutions, alongside greater investment in AI development and data centre infrastructure to meet surging demand for computing power.

The interview also explored Oxylabs’ journey to becoming Lithuania’s sixth unicorn. The company, which provides infrastructure for collecting and processing public data for corporate clients worldwide, including biggest AI companies, attributes its success to a global mindset from inception and a culture of persistence.

“The key is to be persistent. It takes time for results to come,” Savickas explained. “You have to learn to accept a lot of negative responses before you get a positive one. You shouldn’t give up halfway.”

Oxylabs plans to expand its presence in the US and Asia as part of its continued global growth strategy.

Asked how he foresees the future, Savickas highlighted AI agents as a transformative force that will reshape how the internet operates, requiring digital infrastructure to adapt accordingly. He also identified cybersecurity as a critical growth area, noting that AI is amplifying both opportunities and potential threats.

“We need to know how to distinguish artificial intelligence from human behaviour because the scale of potential threats and hacker attacks is increasing,” he said. “That is why many companies are investing heavily in cybersecurity, and I believe that this market will continue to grow.”
